Loosen the Belt:
Let go of your own story for the day. People say there are two sides to every story. Wrong. There are two (or more) different stories. You get to decide the heroes of yours. You don’t need to voice your narrative everywhere you go. Read the room! It’s not like you don’t know these people. Use empathy:

“Mom, I can tell you’re eager for grandkids. No one here has a crystal ball; I’m also excited to find out what the future holds.”
